Who am I and why do I think you should pay attention to what I have to say about making money online?
I’m Russ Skinner, married, with two adult children (one of whom still lives at home). For a couple of decades I ran my own business, as a freelance law clerk, doing title searches and closing real estate transactions for lawyers. Then the government computerized most of the records, and my job was done away with.
As it became obvious that my work would be disappearing, I was looking around for other things to do and among the things I looked at was making money online. But where to start?
Everybody was of the opinion that their product was by far the best, and just insert your credit card number here…. Some of those products were actually worthwhile and I still refer to them. Some were incredibly shoddy, and were written under the apparent idea that the more red and green squiggly lines on the page as your prepared your copy, the better. (Translation: the spelling and grammar were ‘creative.’)
A couple of times, I started to prepare material for my own product guide, but there were always more items on my to-do list than I could get around to. Then I started a few ‘traditional’ jobs, and had less time to devote. With the advent of blogs, it’s now okay to put small items together when they are on my mind, and then post them. I hope you will find them worthwhile. (And I hope for feedback, since I still intend to do some writing of my own, in addition to some editing I’m almost finished on some private rights titles – in return for payment, I am entitled to deal with the material as though it were mine. More on this in upcoming posts.)
And before we get started, a few things that I do not intend to devote much attention to:
· MLM (multi-level marketing), sometimes called Network marketing (although I will be pointing to some good free resources from MLM-training sites.
· “gifting” programs, whereby in return for you agreeing to let me pay you $x (usually $3,500, although they will usually break this into tranches), I will be allowed to receive $x (the same amount you put up, up to the full amount) from anyone I can convince to join me, once I have allowed the first two or three such payments to those who brought me in. (And they will receive any payment above what I have bought into at.) These programs are probably legal, but I personally apply a “yuck” factor to programs I associate with.
When I am dealing with a program I have had personal dealings with, I will give you my frank assessment, including my opinion of those competing programs with which I am familiar. In many cases, I will offer you an email series dealing with a specific “niche” (as segments of the market are called). These will come to your email on a regular basis, and you will of course be able to unsubscribe at any time.
And, of course, when I come across new things, the likely first place you will hear from me about it will be here. (I also have a more targeted blog at http://www.maximumversatilityincome.com/blog).
I am not yet a full-time Internet entrepreneur. I am a mortgage consultant in the greater Toronto area, and supplement that (commission) income by working in a call center. If one of the things you are looking for is a way to supplement your income, we have that as well in common.
Now, let’s get to it…
